So far, the main focus of the story showed that immortality, in this case, is not a blessing but a curse. Most people do not consider "anime ajins" as human beings, they do not have human rights, and shortly after found a government from around the world will hunt them to capture them and use them as arguments test subjects. As test subjects, they are victims of brutal experiments and continuous torture, a fate that immortal beings is almost worse than death.

While it is a nice take on immortality I feel this is really more of a "pessimistic" about not being able to die rather than be a "realistic" perspective on the issue. The story shows that, before learning about the power of their actions Ajin as normal human beings, they are born, with family, friends and a normal life, even though it is said that most of them are not even violent or dangerous even after learning they are Ajin. However, we are supposed to believe that no one really felt bad about it and they all agree that they are not human and should not be treated as one.
